How to Start a Micro School

I just released a new episode of the MoonshotEdu Show podcast, an interview with Mara Linaberger. It was a great conversation. We learned about her journey into the world of micro schools. We talked about the value and distinct niche of micro schools in the education ecosystem today. We also got into some of the details of her new book, where she offers a handbook on how you can actually design and launch your own Micro School.

This is part of my ongoing research for what I hope will be a new book that profiles amazing and promising models of micro schools from around the United States and beyond. I’ll be sure to share my learning and journey along the way.

If you are interested, you can check it out over on the podcast website, or I’ve embedded it below for your convenience as well.

    1. Thanks for the comment. Interestingly, I interviewed Jade for the podcast a few weeks ago. That episode will release on Monday morning. My book will not be a “how to” like what you find with Jade or Mara’s wonderful books. It will be a profile of 10 case studies. Each chapter / case study will be an in-depth and rich description of a different micro school. I will be traveling around the country, conducting the interviews and doing the observations over the next six months for the book. There will be project-based schools, expeditionary schools, democratic schools, etc. The goal is to give people a sense of the breadth of different types of schools and how each serves a distinct need and audience. Or, perhaps when you wrote that there is already another book out there, you were referring to Mara’s book. Her and Jade’s book have some overlap, but having read both, I think them compliment each other pretty well.
